Karen Cooper Echery, MSPT
Physical Therapist/Certified Pilates
Instructor.
Karen is originally from Michigan but moved to Colorado Springs at the age of 12. She graduated from Colorado State University in 1995 with a BFA in Dance. Her love of dance introduced her to the work of the Pilates method. Karen enjoys hiking, camping, dancing and snowboarding.
Professional Training and Specialty: In 1997, Karen became a certified Polestar Pilates practitioner. Pilates sparked her interest in physical therapy, which led Karen to pursue a Master of Science degree in physical therapy from Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Karen was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to do a clinical affiliation with the physical therapy department of Balanced Body, Miami and gained experience with a therapeutic approach to Pilates. In 2003, she returned to Colorado. She is a co-founder of the Pilates program at NBPT. Her physical therapy expertise lies in combining therapeutic exercise with manual therapy to teach each patient what to do at home to hasten their recovery from injury and pain. |

Kelly Duda, DPT, CPI
Physical Therapist/Certified Pilates
Instructor.
Kelly was born and raised in Romeo Michigan before moving to Colorado in 2001. She lives with her husband Tim and her daughter Neela in Louisville. In her spare time she enjoys snowboarding, skiing, ice climbing, running, Mt Biking, backpacking, hiking, long boarding, wakeboarding, rock climbing, and Pilates.
Professional Training and Speciality: Kelly Duda completed her Bachelors Degree in Exercise Physiology and minor in Psychology at Central Michigan University. She later returned to pursue her Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. Kelly's experience is primarily orthopedics, neurological, and spine rehab. She has taken post-graduate courses in orthopedics, manual therapy, spine, and extremities. Kelly also has completed her Pole star Rehab Pilates certification. Kelly is both equipment and mat certified. She specializes in the Rehabilitation population and pre/post natal Pilates.

Michelle
Harris
Physical Therapist/Certified Pilates
Instructor.
Michelle grew up in the Midwest where she received her undergraduate degree in Biology at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. While there she was a member of the track team and qualified for the NCAA Div. III Track and Field Championships. She went on to the Physical Therapy Program at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL where she graduated in 1987. Her interest in athletics lead her to Eugene, OR, where she worked extensively with elite runners, gymnasts and equestrians.
She relocated to Boulder in 1991 and has continued to work with active people of all ages, levels and disciplines including high school, college and professional athletes, as well as general orthopedic and occupational injuries. She specializes in manual therapy of the spine and extremities, pelvic floor dysfunction for men and women, various approaches to movement re-education and therapeutic exercise. She received her Pilates training from the PhysicalMind Institute based in New York City and is fully certified in the Pilates method for mat and equipment.
Michelle is an avid skier and is a PSIA-certified telemark ski instructor. She also enjoys traveling, rock climbing, cycling and running.

Jessica
Orszulak
Physical Therapy Aide/Certified Pilates
Instructor.
Jessica is a native to Colorado, born in Boulder and raised in the small mountain town of Nederland, Colorado. Combining her love for sports and her interest in the human body she remained in the area to receive a Bachelor Degree in Integrative Physiology from CU Boulder. Since then she has received her Pilates Mat Certification and is currently finishing up her equipment certification through the PhysicalMind Institute based out of New York. She has been observing, volunteering and working as an Aide in several different Physical Therapy settings since 2005 assisting with exercises at the rehabilitation level and preparing to become a Physical Therapist. Her future goals as Physical Therapist are to specialize in biomechanics and gait analysis, as well as specialize in treatment of the spine.
Jessica was trained at the Colorado Athletic Training Center for nine years as a competitive gymnast. She was also competitive in soccer, and enjoys basketball, hiking, skiing, rock climbing, kayaking, and travelling. |

Lee completed her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Colorado - Health Sciences Center in May 1998. Through practicing Physical Therapy and suffering her own spinal injury, she decided to expand her practice with Pilates. Lee completed her Pilates Mat Certification through the Professional Health and Fitness Institute in April 2003. This training program is only for individuals with a Physical Medicine degree. It emphasized the original Pilates Method and principles and how to safely apply Pilates within the rehabilitation setting. Lee began working at North Boulder Physical Therapy in April 2003 and became the Senior Staff Therapist for the Boulder Medical Center clinic in March 2006. Her treatment and instruction focuses on correction of body imbalances, through proper movement patterns and muscle control, to recover from and prevent injury. She enjoys challenging patients, clients and herself to achieve individual bests. Lee has, also, completed additional physical therapy coursework in manual therapy techniques, muscle imbalance, dynamic muscle control, biomechanics and orthotic evaluation and manufacture.
Lee grew up as an army kid around Washington DC and in Ankara, Turkey. She completed high school in Nederland, Colorado, and then attended CU – Boulder for her BA in Kinesiology. Lee currently lives in Gilpin County with her husband, Steve, and their dogs and cat. They enjoy Colorado’s outdoor pastimes including hiking fourteeners, skiing, mountain biking, backpacking, camping and four-wheeling. |

Jan Dunn, M.S.
Jan originally moved to Colorado in 1994, and recently returned after three years in Los Angeles, where she was Coordinator of the Dance Wellness Lab at Loyola Marymount University. She has worked in Pilates rehabilitation since 1991, in Dance Medicine since 1981, and in the Franklin Method (using Imagery for neuro-muscular re-education) since 2005. She initiated / directed the Pilates rehab component of several physical therapy clinics in both CT and CO. Her dance / dance medicine background includes many years as university faculty, and continuing involvement since 1990 with the International Association of Dance medicine (IADMS), as President / Board Member / Executive Director.
Academic Background / Training:
Jan completed her B.S (1982). and M.S (1984) degrees in Dance Science from The University of West Florida. Her original Pilates certification was with Elizabeth Larkam at St. Francis Memorial Hospital (San Francisco) in 1991; she completed the Polestar Pilates Rehabilitation courses 1996-1999, and has studied other mind-body systems including Feldenkrais / Alexander. She is a Level II Franklin Method Educator, and is currently in the Level III training course. She is also conducting research on the Franklin Method, with a colleague at Loyola Marymount University.
Jan is married with two teenagers. She enjoys reading, travel, cooking, nature, and most of all, being back in Colorado.
